Our process.
Huaraches is a small artisan business that promotes hand-made processes and family traditions in the southern Sierra of Oaxaca.
Local pelts and skins that wouldn’t customarily be used to make huaraches are selected, to create a modern, updated version of this vernacular footwear. We work with family-owned and operated workshops in Ejutla and Miahuatlan in Oaxaca, Mexico. Helping keep this trade alive and supporting small, local businesses.
Huaraches are produced in small batches, usually no more than two or three pelts at the time, all pelts are of Mexican origin and sourced locally. Each huarache is cut, assembled, and sewn by hand. Due to their artisanal nature, variances may occur and no pair is alike.
Huaraches celebrates these distinctions making every pair unique.
The pairs are numbered and photographed individually. The pair pictured is the pair shipped to the customer.
